Sony version, default NR and sharpening
I use the Sony (Pro) version. Am I right in assuming that by default, it applies some amount of noise reduction and sharpening that Phase One and/or Sony feel is about right for the shot, based on the camera type? Or is that wishful thinking?
Most of the time the default settings that I get for NR and sharpening seem about right. I seldom increase them.

I think your assumption is right, and that it also takes into account factors such as ISO. The setting in noise reduction looks as though it doesn't change because it always starts at a setting of 50. But that is just a nominal middle of the scale relative to the amount that Capture One has applied to that particular image.
