Work Flow with Capturing existing Images

I have a question to see if this is the way the software is supposed to behave.
I insterted aCompactFlash card and imported my images into a new session. With in the session name I see a folder called capture and I see my images with in that folder.
When I try to import existing images off of my hard drive, by creating a new session, I do not see anything in the captured folder. Do images only appear in the captured folder via CF or Tethered?

I would like my Folders/Session to be uniformed. So when I click on sessions, I dont have to dig deeper to find my images.

Also why is the Mac version so different than the indows version. I would like to beable to move between plattforms on a removeable drive.

  It is certainly possible to import from your HD into an existing (or new) session.
  
  I'm not quite sure what you were trying, but here are my tips:
  
  when I was reorganizing according to the C1 scheme, I created sessions that paralleled my existing folders/shoots. Then I dragged my raw files from the desktop into the C1 window; C1 will copy a version of those raw files into the capture folder for that session. Afterwards, you can do whatever you like with the old folder that was left behind.
  
  It is also quite easy to reload sessions that you have cleared from the session list. Simply drag the C1 data file with the \".session\" suffix from the finder into the C1 window and it will reload the session (this is the same as selecting \"add session\".

  I have a folder called Pictures with existing images/shoots on my root directory. When I start a new session with C1 it comes up with a screen wanting me to name the session. I name the session and point the folder to the Pictures directory.
  I do not see the images with C1 (mac) however if I do the same thing for the windows, C1 see's the images and I can start working on them.
  I just thought it would automatically import my images for me. So what you are saying is that I still need to manually move the images into the capture directory?
  
  The other part of my question is that why is it so different between OS's. With the Mac version you get extra folders (processed, Trash, ect) with windows all you get is (Developed)??

  Capture one creates a new subfolder at the time you create a new session--by default it is named \"Captures\" but you can name it whatever you like. Because it creates its own, new subfolder for captures, it does not see the raw images that you already placed in the folder. To understand this better, study the folder hierarchy on your harddrive after you create a new session.
  
  AFTER you create the new session, you can locate the capture folder in the finder and copy your raw images into it.
  
  Alternatively, as I was mentioning before, you can drag your images from the finder into the C1 program window, dragging and dropping on top of the capture folder.
  
  I am unfamiliar with the windows version; thankfullly, I've never had to use it.

  Thats what I thought. In the Windows version if you start a new session on the root and name it the same as the existing folder. It will automatically transfer images into C1.
  This isnt to big of an issue but would be a nice fix in a new release of the C1 for Mac.
