Same issues here and with catalogs as well. No more than one each and only either session or catalog. In V9.3 all at the same time was possible with easy switching.

Seems to be another "added" feature of V10....and combined with the slow starting and closing of sessions / catalogs makes working a disaster.

    Hi Fl

I've just managed to find the solution.

Preferences - General - Catalog and Session
    Check open in new window.

I would add to this that C1 V10 is a clean install on a new machine so it would appear I have lost the previous preferences that I have set up from previous versions and then forgotten about.

Also the Crop in the Tool Tab bar was completely missing. I just had to add it. Where I keep crop, rotation and flip, keystone and overlay.

Did I create that tool panel myself in a previous version? it's hard to believe that the default layout would be missing the crop tools

Thanks Will, so they just changed the default.

The Release Notes describe the small changes to the UI and the reasons behind them.

If you still have access to the previous machine you should be able to find your personalised settings (for everything you personalised) and transfer them to the new machine.

    HTH.

Do they actually mention the change in the default settings in the release notes? I'm pretty sure that I read it and can't remember any hint.

    For the UI, yes.

    For the defaults? No idea.

I have always had open session set to "Open in New Window" and my personal defaults have always carried forward despite the fact that I almost always install in a new folder rather than update an existing installation.

Release to release and version to version I don't recall having a problem unless changing machines perhaps - but the last change was a while back and I was not too concerned about copying personalisations over.

However, I am using Windows although so far as I know in this respect there should be no difference between Windows and Mac in terms of design intent.
