Unable to Import Image Files
I am trying to use the program for the first time.
I have created a session folder and pressed import to import some images to edit.
The program will not display any image files to import. My files are in Nikon NEF format but It will not display JPEG files either.
Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong?

Not sure, but when you are using Sessions, their is no importing. Just navigate to the directory containing the images and go for it.
Now, if using a catalog, you have to import as it has to update a database on the images.

Have you started Capture One in DB mode?
If so it will only support files from Phase family Digital Backs.
If you started it in either of the Sony modes it will only support Sony cameras (relatively recent models).
If you started in Pro mode and still cannot see the NEF files has anything been done to the NEF files (via, for example, NX2) before you try to import them?
For the jpgs, if running Pro, check the Preferences >Image for the "Enable JPG editing" setting.
Also the View > Global Filters settings.
I hope something in here helps you work out what is going on.

To be pedantic - when using sessions you DO NOT HAVE TO import but there are some process advantages to doing so depending on your preferred image management ant workflow.
Either way you have to tell Capture One which folder contains the files you want to work with.

Hi Grant and Robert,
Thanks for your reply.
I have installed the program and just opened it - if the default does not read NEF files then I don't know where to change it
I then clicked on new session and created a session name.
A large import button appeared in the middle of the screen
I clicked on that and went to a directory where there are hundreds on untouched raw Nikon (NEF) files
the directory is blank even though my images are there
So, that is far as I have got in using this new program0 -
Hi Guys,
I have got off the starting blocks.
After selecting the directory, I click on select folder and all the images appear!
An obvious choice but not mentioned in the introductory video.
Thanks Again0 -
Maybe you have a very new Nikon model which NEFs are not yet supported? 0
