TIF file not shown
Hello,
I have a TIF file (produced by CO 6.1.1 pro and reworked with PS5, saved as tif without compression, 872MB) in a folder. But this file is not shown in CO 6.1.1. Other tif files in other folders will be shown in CO, but this files are smaller. When I copy the problem file in another folder it is also not shown. I think it is the size of the file.
Are there any limitations regarding the file size? Does other have the same problem?
Best regards, Michael

Yes, I recall limitations re. size. Is it a 16-bit TIFF? That could be a limitation as well. 0 -
Yes it is a 16 Bit tiff. But I have only 16-bit tiffs and others 16-bit tiffs with lower size are making no problem. 0 -
I get the same problem with .TIFF files crated by my Phase one scanning back (about 285MB). I did not find a solution yet, other than to resize to a smaller file. 0 -
The last time I tested it the maximum size tiff/jpeg that Capture One will display is 7843x7848. 16bit or 8 bit does not make the difference. We have to limit it because it takes a lot more power and memory to load processed files than it does raw files.
I last did the test in Capture One 5 so it is possible that it has changed since then.0 -
The pixel dimension of the file, which cannot be loaded into CO 6.1.1 is 6799 x 5094px, 16-bit and 872,7 MB. When I reduce all the levels in Photoshop CS5 and save it with the same pixel dimension it can be loaded into CO6.1.1. Then the file size is 208,1MB. Therefore I think, that it is not related to the pixel dimension. The levels can also not be the cause, because other smaller files with levels can be displayed in CO.
I'm investigate this more in detail, because I want to convert all my files whether they are IIQ files or tiff files with the same program to jpgs. Now it is not possible with CO 6.1.1. ☹️ Therefore I have think about if is not better to do the whole workflow in LR3 with the disadvantage that the quality is not quite so good as CO, but it is easier and faster.0 -
I'm not entirely convinced that the limit is 7843x7848, as my PowerPhase (scsi) produces something like 7kx7kx16bit tiffs, and C1 4.8.3 or 6.1.1 can't open them. I did raise a support ticket a while back, and if I recall I submitted an image that shows this issue. If not, I can fire up the powerphase at some point.

I should mention that layers on Tiffs and non-standard Tiff files will not show as well. In otherwords if you open the file in Photoshop it should only have 1 "background" layer, must be RGB 8 or 16bit, not in layermask mode, etc.
If you want to send us a file (preferably via FTP since the case system will struggle with such a large file) create a case and we can determine exactly why a particular file does not work.0
