Cannot Associate .cr2 with Capture One
I am trying to associate file type \".cr2\" with the Capture One 3.6 application. I right-click on a cr2 file in Explorer and select Open With. The Capture One application is not listed, so I select \"Choose Program.\" The application is not listed under either \"Recommended Programs\" or \"Other Programs\", so I click the Browse button, and browse to the location of the application. I select the application, \"captureone.exe\", and push the open button. Now the strange and mysterious part: after this, the application still does not appear listed under \"Recommended Programs\" or \"Other Programs\" in the Open With box. No matter what I try, I have been unable to make the association.
I have tried reinstalling the Capture One application, which made no difference.
Can anyone help?

This is not how the program works, unlike photoshop for example which work one file to file basis, Capture One works on a folder to folder basis, there is a big advantage with this when instead of working with a single file you work with multiple files and can apply correction on multiple files. This is the major advantage with the Capture One software.
The program can not be runned they way you refer to becuase it is simply not designed that way.0 -
Thank you for your prompt reply Ulf.
The real problem that I am having is that I routinely use iMatch (and other such file organizers) to locate the image files that I want to work on, and once I select a .CR2 file, I would like to be able to directly launch Capture One from there to operate on it. This is what is not working for me, and what is inhibiting my workflow.
I should say that this is no longer working for me, because I am sure that I was previously able to do this, or at least, I was able to associate .CRW files with a previous version of Capture One.
Do I understand you correctly that it is by design that Capture One cannot be launched from within other applications such as iMatch (or MS File Explorer, or any other file management utility) in the manner that I have indicated?
Thanks again for your assistance.0 -
Any update on the .CR2? I just purchased the Capture One LE and am frustrated that it cannot seem to read the CR2 format for the RAW files. 0 -
David.
It has never been supported to work with files in this way.
Molmotta:
Depends what you refer to in \"CR2\", cameras that support CR2 extension and is supported in 3.6 is: 20D, 1DmkII and 1DsmkII, 3.7 also support 350D which produce CR2 files as well.0
