Phase One uses Canon's SDK (provided by Canon directly) to provide full support of advanced features like live view. Canon dropped the 1Ds II from their official support. I agree this is too early for a body classified/marketed as a pro body.

Note that with Phase One continues to provide tethering support in v7 for every digital back they have made, including the 1998 LightPhase.

So it's a matter of the manufacturer's loyalty to owners of previous generation products. Phase has it, Canon, apparently does not. That would be something to request/ask/demand/lobby-for from Canon.

Canon dropped support in the SDK, the software component that makes tethering possible, which is build in Capture One. Actually, the 1Ds mkII was dropped from CO Pro 6 over 2 years ago, but it still worked until the latest versions of CO 6 (later versions have newer SDKs).

Thank you for posting this for me. OK Canon what gives. Thank you phaseone for supporting all your camera and backs. I still love and use my H20 on my bladd body and have my ipad for parents to view images. I'm sure I will upgrade to a p45
some day when my eyes don't focus as fast as I would like them to.

    Thanks
    Martin
