Where should catalogs be saved?

I am just beginning to use EM in conjunction with Capture One on a Mac with OS 10.6.6. I have all of my recent images on a hard drive that is now reaching capacity, and I want to catalog it for future reference. After having imported all of the files to EM, I am unsure where the catalog should be saved. Does it belong in a folder within EM or in some other location where the program can find it?

  I have just created a folder called "Expression Media catalogs" within the "Pictures" folder on the Mac.

  Thanks. Now if I have multiple catalogs, how does EM locate a particular folder or file, even if it my be offline?

  Hello Rob,
  - first, I would file all catalogs at one place
  - if you click on a file in EM that is offline, the file path - at the top of the of the screen, right above the top row of the pictures - will be in written in red. This indicates that the file is offline.
  
  Just read the user manual - everything is in there.
