Tethering to new iMac

I have been tethering successfully to my MacBook Pro for years and now have a new iMac 21.5" Retina that doesn't see to want to do the same. It connects occasionally when it wants to, but not when I need it to, (ie every time!). Any suggestions or is this an iMac USB port problem?
Thanks in anticipation?

Kit: Nikon D810 via TetherToools Active Cable to iMac 2019 Retina MacOS Mojave into USB 3.0 port using COPro v12.1.5

  Problem solved!
  Turns out the new iMac didn’t like having Nikon and Canon cameras checked in preferences. I unticked the Canon and everything works fine now. Interesting that my MacBook Pro has both ticked without problem...
