No Lens Correction Profile Nikon AF-S 200-500
I am currently giving Capture One Pro a trial with intention of purchasing the Pro or going subscription route. I have noticed while making my edits that there is no Lens Correction for the Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f5.6 ED VR lens. which I find rather strange. This is a popular Nikon zoom lens that has been arounf for awhile and not included in the profile list of Capture One Pro. I looked at Canon's and the EF 100-400mm f5.6 popped up easily, so it's not leaving out all zooms. Does anybody have any idea why they wouldn't include the Nikon 200-500 for lens correction??? Grateful for any feedback.

Yes. Do you find problems with the lens that need correction? You'll find that distortion (barrel or pincushion) is more of a problem with wider angle lenses. I can't comment on the Canon 100-400 as I don't use Canon. But I do use the Nikon 200-500, and can't say that I notice distortion that I feel needs a dedicated profile.

As Ian3 has already mentioned there are not so many long zooms that seem to attract correction but you would have to ask Phase directly, using a Suport Case, if you want an official answer to your specific question.
I would speculate, based on the list, that the lower end of the range considered to be worth testing and providing correction (based partly on the number of potential users of such long lenses) is 100mm at the wide end - possibly 150mm id the total zoom ration exceeds 3x.
This seems to be the case for Canon lenses and more or less seems to apply for Sigma.
Sony, having a special relationship with C1, may be an exception with perhaps all lenses included but there are many listed and I am not at all familiar with their names and configurations.
There are, potentially, other factors involved with correction as well as distortion but with more and more modern lenses providing manufacturer level corrections (out of necessity) at a level that will be acceptable to most of their users there would probably need to be some serious differences of standards for Phase to feel the need to test and develop correction for many of them - and then perhaps mainly because there were a large number of users requesting help due to evident 'issues' with the lens as provided new.
One always has the option, if something is particularly irksome, to develop one's own corrections using the tools provided and save them for repeated use or even as the default for a particular lens although that might not be quite so easy to automate for application to a zoom compared to a fixed focal length.

I'm a user of the 200 - 500 and I'm happy with its performance.
That said, it's about the only lens I use that doesn't have a profile on C1, and I've lodged a request for a profile with Phase One.
If every user lodges a similar request, I'm sure we'll get a profile.1 -

No lens is perfect.
The 200 - 500 is a widely-used lens in nature photography, and probably has more users than some of the lenses which are directly supported by C1.1 -
I support this request too. I have noticed that I am missing some of my other lens profiles too for my different cameras. I plan to make a list at some point and send it to their support. 0 -
Same question - why do you think you need a profile?
Long lenses are affected by distortion to a negligibly small degree, and that's primarily what the profiles address - so they don't really benefit from bespoke profiles.0 -

That doesn't answer the question you were asked.
I'm a long lens user myself (bird photographer, Canon 500mm f/4 Mk II being my primary lens, usually with a converter), and I know that I get no benefit from the lens' profile, because it "fixes" problems that don't exist.0
