C1 Pro 3.77 does not release memory
On OS X 10.4.9, C1 Pro does not release memory when the program is terminated.
Using Activity Monitor, I can see that I start off with 1.18GB of free memory. When running C1, this is reduced to 512MB.
When I exit C1 the memory is not released. If C1 is then restarted it eats the remaining memory until the machine grinds to a halt.
Is this a known issue?

Hi David,
This is not a known issue. There may be a problem with your memory itself. Do you see this same problem when opening a program such as photoshop?
Try http://www.memtestosx.org/ to test out your memory.
You may also try doing a complete uninstall/reinstall of Capture One Pro: http://www.phaseone.com/HOME/Content/Su ... 20-%20Main
Finally try updating or even reinstalling OSX.0 -
There are no issues on the machine with other programs failing to release allocated memory. 0 -
I have the same problem.
C1 does not release memory.
So now it is a KNOWN problem.0 -
So you did then test memory and do a complete Uninstall / Reinstall? - no problems and no change in performance?
These are the very first claims regarding this behaviour, therefore it will Truly be known when a Support Case is submitted.
Please send in a Case with all details, system specs and screenshots in order to compile a thorough case history in order to pass along to the R&D and Test Dept.
Once logged to these departments, the problem is thoroughly analyzed.

im a little late with this post, but i too have the same problem.
i have an macpro 8 core. installed 8 gb's of ram. slowly more and more ram gets used as i capture and process in the application. turning C1pro on and off does not release the memory. only restarting the computer resets it.
i monitor the ram on the widget 'ISTATPRO'.
ive reinstalled the software, still no change.
has anyone with the problem been able to figure anything out?
thank you

Hello All,
We are interested to find the root cause of this memory release issue. In order to do that we need some specific information about your system and how you work.
What Mac OS version. And sub version? (e.g. 10.4.10 (8R2232))
What Capture One version and build? (e.g. 3.7.7 3122)
Sample images.
Mac hardware specs.
The best thing we can get is a System Profiler file. Go to "About this mac" click "More info" and save the file.
Also we need a description of how you work: how many files in a folder, how many images in the process queue, do you process while capturing? etc.
What cameras/backs are you using with capture one pro? Does your camera choice affect memory performance on your machine?
Please reate a support case at http://support.phaseone.com and upload your information and system profiler file. Please mark the case Attn. Jon in the title or body.
We can see that some of our users have this problem, but we know from experience not the vast majority. The more information we are given the more likely we are to reproduce the problem and develop a solution.
Thanks for all your help!0 -
I have not personally technically measured this but just wanted to chime in as well and say I experienced this as well. Especially when I had to do thumbnail builds, it made my computer extremely sluggish for a while after finishing the builds; even after quitting the program it would take a while of opening other programs (very slowly) before it would seem to flush this from Ram.
I would note that since upgrading to Leopard this issue seems to have gone away.
I'm running a MacBook Pro Core Duo 2.16 / 2GB Ram / Canon 5D and typically work on galleries of at least 300 photos and up to 1500 or so.0 -
