Not getting any replies on this so I'll try to be more clear.

I have a "process recipe" called "To Photoshop". The raw file I'm going to send to photoshop is in a catalog that is referencing files in a standard Mac folder (referenced folder).

I can change the recipe's "output location" to be the same file folder as the original raw file, but I'd prefer not to have to do this manually each time. I'd rather have it default to the current RAW folder if possible.

When I edit the image in CS6, and save the TIFF, it is now saved back in the original referenced location, but it is not visible in the catalog. In order to make it visible, I have to import that single file into the catalog manually.

Obviously this manual process works, but I'd like to automate it so that the catalog automatically includes the new processed TIFF image. Perhaps this is because of my Aperture familiarity, but I like having all images (raw and processed) in one place and Aperture does this quite simply. If there is no way to automate this I just want to confirm that.
    Regards,
    Peter G.

I have an idea you might try.

In the Capture One pulldown menus, in camera, there is a line that reads "hot folder enabled". Select this and see if it will put a check next to it. You want the check there.

See if that allows the re-saved images to show up in your catalog.

    "hot folder enabled"

This function is designed for camera tethering. I is not a general hot folder. I completely understand what CorsairVelo is asking and from what I can see there is no easy solution except to manually re-import the file. I am also a convert from Aperture and Lightroom and would like to see a total "Round-Trip" approach taken on external file editing. I have many plugins that are PS compatible but not CO. There are many things the CO has that it does well but there are also a lot it doesn't. Having a "Round-Trip" editing function with PS would solve 99% of the issues that exist with CO. The return file should be either a 16bit PS of Tif format that can hold layer information if needed. If you were to ask to re-edit the returned file it would should have a continue editing function that means it just picks up where you last left off.

Trust that makes sense. I'm sure it does for Aperture and LR users. Please CO developers listen to this request. If there is already an easy work-around let's hear about it.

Just to add to acuffe's comment. I have the Nik suite of plugins which work for Aperture and Lightroom.... and I have been able to use them with Capture One the same way I use CS6: by creating a Process Recipe that one of the the Nik (now Google) apps. e.g for Color Efex Pro 4, there's an app in the Finder, just point to it. For Dfine or Viveza, same thing.

That said, you end up with the same Round Trip challenge which I mentioned to start this thread and the need to re-import the "returned or plug-in edited" tiff....

Please advise how you got Color Efex 4 Pro to show. Please see thread below about Silver Efex Pro. I too have the NIK suite of plugins that I use in LR and CS6. The non Efex titled pluging show and work. The Efex titled plugins do not show. When choosing other, they will NOT activate or add to the list. HOW did you get them to activate for your recipe??? ❓

Sorry for delay. (I forgot to have the thread notify me when a reply is posted)

I upgraded them to the Google versions of the Nik Plugins, have you? That may be the difference, not sure.

Once I did that, all the plugin apps were visible in the finder under Applications in the "Nik Collection" subfolder.

Set the Recipe to point to the Nik app of choice by telling the recipe to "open with other" then find the Nik App.

I created a directory to hold the results and point the recipe there. (I'll call it "work directory")

When I process the recipe, the "plug in" opens up with the image in it and I edit away. Then I save the image in the Nik plugin, and the updated TIFF appears in the "work directory"

Then I have to re-import that TIFF into the catalog manually.

    That help?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did the google update when it came out and the NIK folder is as it should be. Works for all other applications, and works in CO as you describe for the non-efex titled NIK processes. The Efex files do NOT show in the drop down and when I try to add them under "other", they will not open nor will they add to the drop down. ❓ I for the life of me cannot find the answer. Dfine, Sharpener and Viveza work as they should. ?????
