New user questions
I am trying the software as a Lightroom replacement and have a couple of questions. Can the filename only be changed on import and is there any way to change the capture date? I can currently change the capture date in both Lightroom and Photos.

File names can be changed any time, either individually for each photo or as a batch process. There is a powerful set of tools (tokens) for automating the renaming process should you need to.
I do not believe you can change the capture time though.0 -

That's right - you can't change the capture time, based on Phase One's philosophy never to alter the original raw file. You'd have to use an external Exif editor.

Be aware there's a smallbug when renaming individual images:
if you have browser labels set to off, nothing happens when you select the rename function.
You need to have the browser labels set to Edit or Status.
I've already reported this to C1 support, and hopefully it will be fixed in an upcoming update0 -

Isn't that normal behaviour? With browser labels on, you see the file name below the image in the browser and if you choose rename, you type in your new name where the label is. If browser labels are off, where would you expect to (a) see what the name was, or (b) type in a new one? No dialog box or anything like that comes up.

Of course it isn't normal.
Either the menu option should be disabled, or a message displayed to the user, when the browser labels are off.
This leads to a strange user experience, where there user selects an option and doesn't know what is going on.
There are new users to C1 that are not aware that the renaming happens on the browser label.0 -

By "normal" I meant that this is how it has always worked, as far as I know, rather than there being a newly introduced bug. Design one may or may not like, perhaps, but design rather than accident, I think.

Thank's for the information. I was not expecting the filename editing to where it is. But I did find both places where it can be changed. I guess I need to watch a few more tutorials. 0 -

I only "discovered" this recently, as I don't use the feature much (I usually rename while importing), so I don't know how long it's been there.
The funny thing is that if the browser is hidden, it is clever enough to show it automatically after you select rename, so maybe another solution is to show the labels automatically.0
