This is the message I'm suddenly getting. I was working in my catalogue, I added some ICC Profiles to my library. Then I'm unable to open C1, at least this catalogue. Other catalogues are are fine

I've had no problems until now.

Pretty much everything I've read in this forum doesn't work! Everything is corrupted and my database isn't recognised. The originals are there but all of my work is down the pan.
This is breaking me. Should I re-install C1?0 -
I don't think reinstalling the app would make your broken catalog magically work again, unfortunately.

I've contacted support.
They're not too forthcoming.0 -
Right-click on your C1 catalog and then "Show Package Contents" from the contextual menu.
You should have an item named "Capture One Catalog.cocatalogdb", which is the current catalog.
If you had backup enabled (which you should!), you'll also see one or more files with names like "Capture One Catalog.cocatalogdb.backup 1".
You should be able to roll back to the most recent backup by moving the .catalogdb to your Desktop (just to keep it safe) and then renaming the highest-numbered backup to "Capture One Catalog.cocatalogdb". You could similarly roll back to earlier backups if your more recent backups are broken.
If you haven't enabled backup, then go through C1's preferences and do so. Note that the backup is only for the catalog database file—you'll need another method for your originals.0 -
Thanks Nature Isme, but this has already been done, and the Database Backup is also corrupted. I can open the catalog, but all of the images are displaying a circle with a question mark and the message is : "The Selected image is either unavailable, in an unsupported format or corrupted"
How can I relocate a file that's inaccessible inside a catalog package?0 -
Sounds like you're using a managed catalog—is that true? If so, your original images are stored in the Originals folder within the catalog/session package.
If you're using a referenced catalog, you should be able to right-click on the image and select "Locate" from the contextual menu.

I've only been using C1 since v8, but have never seen the problem you're describing.0 -
Yes - I can see the images - all the originals are there contained inside the package.
That's great - the originals are safe.
The problem I've got is that when I open C1 the database is corrupted so every image has a placeholder on it in the form of a Question mark. It appears that the adjustments are all there too - I can see that some images have a colour tag etc (even if I can't see the actual image preview). There's no option to relocate the images because the relocate feature can't open the catalog package to go and have a look at the originals!
I could relocates every single one, but I can't get to the folders (from C1)0 -
Try contacting Support again. Your last post about them was on Friday (Saturday in Copenhagen). Give them another day or so, and ping them if you haven't heard by then. While they've usually responded to me within 24 hours, there have been a couple of times when it took 2-3 days to get back to me. They've always been helpful. 0 -
I've waited and posted screenshots and waited, and eventually Phase one came back to me to ask If I've zipped or 'stuffed' (their words) the original files and this is probably why I can't access them.
It's taken them nearly a week to misinterpret everything about my problem and suggest no real solution.
I'm asking anyone in the forums if they have a fix for this extremely frustrating capture one catalog & database problem?0 -
If I understand you right, your catalog database (backup?) is working, but the images and thumbnails are not at the expected place. So instead of a thumbnail you see a question mark in CO's browser bar.
I expect, the package content of your .cocatalog looks like this:
Cache
__ Previews
__ Thumbnails
Originals
YourCatalogName.cocatalogdb
Right?
Could you do the following steps and post your findings?
(I'll avoid sqlite queries.)
a) Take one of the missing image's file name and extension in CO's browser strip.
b) Find your catalog in Finder.
c) Do a 'show package content' to enter the catalog package.
d) Copy the .cocatalogdb you are using to a new file and change the new file's extension to .txt.
e) Open your new .txt file with a text editor (like TextWrangler).
f) Search and find MissingFileName.Extension in the text.
g) At some place, you will find something like '2016/10/17/1/MissingFileName.Extension'
h) With Finder in the catalog package, search for MissingFileName.Extension' in the catalog's folder structure.
i) Compare the location from g) with the real location from h).
Regards,
Hans
EDIT: changed f) to MissingFileName.Extension0 -
Same problem here. CO crashed while working on the catalogue and now I can't open it and am getting the database connection failed message. Argh. Still have all the images (only linked to from catalogue but am missing SO MANY of my adjustments... anyone know a solution?
