Sony Files in non-Sony C1 Pro?
I just tried processing a Say file in C1 Pro 10. I made some changes then hit Process, and it took me to ACR/Photoshop. Seemed incorporate the changes I'd made in C1 Pro. How is this different than using the Sony version of the program?

You can activate C1 in 4 ways.
DB mode is intended for users of Phase Digital Backs and works with those RAW files only. It's free.
C1 Express for Sony works only with Sony RAW files and has restricted functionality in that some things are not offered.
Sony Pro has full functionality but only process Sony ARW (RAW) files not RAW files from other camera bodies.
Full Pro does everything if you need it to.
The download it the same for all license options other than requiring separate files for Mac and Windows.
HTH.

In Process recipe, on the Output tab, there is a drop down list that says Open With. If, say, you routinely wanted to make adjustments to images in C1 and then do more work to them in Photoshop, you could choose Photoshop from that list. But if you want just to output a JPG or TIFF without immediately going on to work on it in another app, you should set that option to None.
(This assumes that you are creating output by using the Process Recipes on the Output tab, and hitting Cmd-D, or clicking the process icon, or clicking Process in the file menu.)
If instead you are using the Export... command on the File menu, you would choose to export Variants rather than Originals, and you would find a similar Open With option in the dialog box for that.
The Sony Pro version is identical to the full Pro version except that it is limited to Sony files. The full Pro version has more tools in it than the Sony Express version, which has some limitations, such as only working with a catalog, not with sessions, or lacking the Advanced tab on the Colour Editor tool, to name just two.
