RGB Channel v's Red, Green and Blue Channels

In Preferences Exposure Tab I have option of setting the Level tool to either 'RGB Channel' or 'Red, Green and Blue Channels'.

Is there somewhere where I might learn about advantages of each of these different modes?

  There are good tutorial on the Phase One YouTube channel. I can't recall which ones cover this but I know that some did.
  
  In a nutshell, I would stick with RGB unless you want to do something in particular with the colours. So it can be useful for example to adjust the channels separately to deal with a cloud cast such as the blueish haze you get in the distance.
