Sounds like you need a tower my friend. MBPro's are good for simple sets, not display intensive work.

    thanks steve,
i totally agree with you, but consider that with this setting (if will work sooner or later!) we could have three screens, for example one for me to check files, one for the client (they we'll be not behind my shoulders anymore!) and the other for the photographer.

I think a DVI splitter is the only real option with something as limited as a MBP.

This will just be a duplicate of what your external monitor shows but will keep the AD at a distance.

sorry drew, do you ever used the dvi splitter?
i check in specifications about resolution: apparently max. is 1920x1200, so i'm wondering if it would be ok for screens around 24" / 27".
thanks again for your precious help!

    Yes, I have... extensively.
They're certainly not great and you get what you pay for, but they do work.

Good DVI cables will be your saving grace should you go that route. A cheap cable will show in the image quality onscreen, flickering image and multicolored stripes will be a constant burden if you skimp on cable quality.

    thanks again,
i'll take care about cables for sure, i was just checking the quality: will i see the picts with same quality as without the splitter?
    grazzie!

That depends on the splitter. Again, you get what you pay for.
