Old version numbers remain in Windows Add/Remove Programs

Today I downloaded and installed Capture One Pro 3.7.3. I installed the new version over/on top of 3.7.1. When I looked in Windows XP Add/Remove Programs screen the following vesions are shown:

3.6
3.7
3.7.1
3.7.3

In the past when I have tried to uninstall the older versions in Add/Remove Programs, the current version un-installs so Capture One is no longer on the machine. Not Good!

These versions are also shown when you click on Start > Programs.

Why doesn't the Capture One Pro installation process remove the older version numbers from Add/Remove Programs and the Start > Programs listing?

How can I clean up the Add/Remove Programs and the Start > Programs listing?

  The installer program we are using does not accomodate the updating process so old versions will be removed so you will have to uninstall all versions from add/remove programs and then install the lates version to clean up.

  Thank you for for your answer. This is not good. Does Phase One have any plans to improve the installer program so it will remove the older version numbers from Add - Remove Programs. All of the other high quality software that I use removes the older version numbers when installing newer versions over an older version.
