File corruption durring tetherd to laptop
Set up: Mac G4 17inch 1.5 ghz w/1.5 ram 40 gigs free on HD. using FW800 or FW400,
Problem: The first 50 captures ok, then, corupt file, next capture ok, then corrupt, then next 20-30 ok then corruption again. Capturing an image about 1 every 30sec to 2mineuts. not fast. Tried same set on desk top and no problems. Is there some setting or somthing I'm missing? Also ran tectools and the HD seems to be fine. I'm not running any other apps orthe than the OSX 10.4.3
Thanks for you help this is driving me nuts!!!

Do a search for\" Powerbook \" under the P series section. Then look at a posting by michaelcogliantry
Phase One is quoted as saying\"

Hi
Phase One's general reccomendation on Powerbooks and P-backs are one of the following:
1. Use a Phase One Power Pack (A repeater and an additional Battery)
2. Use the 6 to 4 pin Firewire converter plug and then use the battery from the P-back to supply power to the back.
Actually we are not supporting that the powerbook can shoot tethered without some kind of tweaking the power from the computer to the back, writing this i will admit that a lot of people do never have problems in doing that - but i have seen plenty of cases where too low power generate bad or black images.
Any of the 2 above items can be purchased at the Phase One dealer.

Hi there,
Yes this an ongoing problem- I keep getting these lines when shooting tethered to the PBook--it is indeed a worry, as there is no warning .

I am using a canon D1 Mk 2 ( 17 megapixel) not a PB back.
So Im not sure how I would add more pwer to the camera or the Fw cable.0 -
Would't it be appropriate if PhaseOne could build into the back some kind of batterychecking function which warns the user if the battery juice is to low. It can be done !!! My Volvo XC90 has a heatersystem that do not start if the temperature is to low and battery capacity to low.
I hate when my P30 has low battery and delivers unusable files.
Please add that to next version...0 -
With Canon cameras this is completely based upon weak firewire signal.
It hard to know what to blame.
The signal from the camera is weaker then from a Phase One camera back. Also the 4-pin port in the body causes unstabile connection once it get a little bit worn.
It might be ofcourse the cable being worn or the is magnetical interferance from flash generators/cables or cellphones!0
