Metadata Exchange with Media Pro
So far as I understand, I should be able to use MP to input hierarchical keywords etc (not yet possible in C1 7). Then, provided I enable metadata sync in C1 7 is should be able to pull this data into the relevant catalogue/session (I've gone back to sessions for the moment). Is that right? Because I don't seem to be able to get this to work, even if I force a metadata sync. I do know that the rendering engine in MP isn't compatible with C1 7, but surely nothing much has changed on the metadata sync front?

A Media Pro update is in the works to support exchange with CO7. 0 -
Thanks. I know about the (forthcoming) update. I thought it was to do with updating the rendering engine in MP. I hadn't realised that it was also necessary to update the metadata sync. It's a pity as MP has a far superior way of adding metadata even with the improvements in C1 7.

since the ability that was announce that MP and C1 now "work together" I tried every offered way to construct a seamless workflow.
since today, I do it the old fashioned way, that means that I never ever for C1 to touch metadata!
I still catalogue and tag all my files with MP, organise pictures in different sub-calatlogues, regarding the topic of interest, e. g. "birds in winter", despite the year the photos were token, and if necessary, built sub from those topics-catalogues all within the master catalogue.
Then a sync to the files follows.
Then I copy the "birds in winter" files into a new catalogue, save the new catalogue renaming it "birds in winter" and using this catalogue as the import source for a "birds in winter".cocatalogue" but never ever let C1 touch the master catalogue.
I know that I lack the real-time synchronisation with the thumbnails, but that is an issue I can live with, intsead of repeatedly correcting or re-inserting changed metadata.0 -
That's really useful. Thanks.
