Incomplete Catalog Import from Lightroom

To add the missing Lightroom Collections I exported a Collection as a catalog and then tried to add that catalog to my C1 catalog using the File/Import Catalog/Import Lightroom Catalog.

However, the Activities dialog box does not progress beyond "Reading 1 of 13 catalog items - about 2 seconds left". I waited several minutes before closing the Activities dialog box. But that did not end the attempted import. Nor did attempting to close C1 end the import. I had to use the Task Manager to close C1.

Note- I deleted the previous empty folder in my C1 catalog before attempting the import of the new Lightroom catalog with the same name.

I do not have much experience in this kind of process, as I did not migrate for Lr to CO in the past (or the other way round 😁 either).

What came up is where are your original files located? Or they accessible during the import? Is you NAS (in case you use that) not sleeping?

    Thanks for the assistance Paul.

All of the files are located on my hard drives within my desk top computer.

I have considered the possibility that my computer may have gone into a sleep mode during the import process since my Lightroom catalog is large. I don't know if that would cause a problem with C1. But that seems to be the most likely cause of my problem.

I have tried importing 2 other Lightroom Collections into my master catalog within C1, both were successfully added. However, the down side of that strategy is that the images within the Collections are also imported again rather than just links. I'm not sure why I could import two of the Collections but not the other since I used the same settings on all 3 imports.

Good idea to prevent the sleep mode from kicking in during large imports.

I attempted to verify the catalog and followed the appropriate steps. The database check failed with "Checking image variant relationships" as the one parameter that failed.

The first time I hit the Repair button nothing happened so I closed the Verify dialog box and redid the check. Once again it failed, but on the second try a repair was done. Not sure why it worked on the second try, but the repair was completed.

Unfortunately it did not complete the links the missing Lightroom Catalogs so I don't know what was repaired.

Is it an option to redo the import, preferably in smaller chunks and do verifications in between. And disable power save temporarily (for display it is no problem).

I found an easy solution for the missing Lightroom Collections. I simply went back into Lightroom, selected the missing collection and exported it as its own catalog. I unchecked all of the boxes in the export dialog box. Do NOT check the "Export Negative File" box since that will just add duplication to your C1 database and used up disk space.

I then imported that catalog into C1 and all of the images showed up. Of course one key point is that no images had been moved around in my file structure so both LR and C1 could find them.

Great you solved it. Thanks for sharing.
