File associattion not working
Hi.. have win 7 64 bit machine and i sometimes prefer to open RAW files from Windows Explorer.. this worked fine in COP9 but have v10 seems to have a problem.. have reinstalled COP but i still cant associate my raw files (olympus ORF) with Capture One. Have tried both the 'open with..' option and selected COPs 'show item in explorer context menu' preference. nothing changes when i select either of these options.. windows and COP seem to completely ignore the selected settings. although on my first install of COP 10 I received a 'Toggle Explorer Context Menu failed' error pointing to D:\BambooAgentHome\xml-data\... which is a folder i've never had on my system when selecting COPs context menu preference.
Any assistance appreciated.

I may not understand your problem correctly, but it appears more like a Windows setup issue than a Capture One issue.
The mechanism for associating a file extension with an application can be used in a couple of ways, depending on your needs. The following links may hopefully provide some guidance:

Typically the D: drive would be a DVD or some other form of media reader.
If you have tried all of the usual tricks - re-booting the machine and so on - and then un-installing C1 and re-installing it I would guess that something has become incorrect in the Windows registry.

Odd, Grant, thanks very much for your replies. Odd ive tried to associate through the windows control panel tool but no luck..windows is just ignoring my attempt to change association from Photoshop (or any other program) to CaptureOne.exe.
Grant have rebooted and reinstalled COP.. no change..
I agree its likely a registry issue but my machine seem otherwise ok. I think my best fix is just to work though the COP import process as phase one intends..rather than tinker with the registry.

I have just tried this out on my Win 7 system.
I have C1 V9 installed and activated. V10 installed on a trial basis.
The existing Windows file association for .ORF files was set to Windows viewer as a default.
I changed it to C1 (Version was not selectable ... read on.)
V10 C1 has an open session and an open Catalog with the catalog being the last used view.
Double clicked the ORF and it opened the open Catalog import window.
I closed both C1 windows, allowed a few seconds for the processes to disappear and then double clicked the .ORF again.
That opened C1 V9 as if it was not activated but in trial mode with the trial expired. I assume that the Icon windows offered me when adding the file association was for the V9 instance of C1 not the V10 instance. As I recall the icons are different .. but not so different that can easily tell one version from the other. It could be the other way around and V10 is associated but V9 starts. I could experiment further but I'm not sure that you are seeing the same sort of effects so whatever I do might not have relevance to your particular problem.
HTH.

I've have just tried this on windows 10 with capture one 9 and 10. Capture one 9 opens like normal, but when trying to open with capture one 10 nothing happens. Strange, but can at least confirm it's not just an issue with your computer. 0 -
Thanks Toby, SFA.. no fix with 10.0.1 either.. good to know its not just me! 0
