C1Pro and Windows XP x64
When will Capture One Pro run under Windows XP x64? As of now it just crashes generating a bug report for Microsoft.
Surely I'm not the only photographer to have a machine with more than 2GB of memory? Photoshop CS2 runs fine under x64 and even though it can't use all the memory it can use up to about 2.5GB - and it doesn't crash!

Windows x64 is currently not a part of our test matrix and will not be until version 4.0
Mean while we can not support 64bit version of Windows.
We have however quite a few users that has been able to run Capture One successfully on Windows x64 and I hope someone in the forum can pitch in with their experiences.
Note that Capture One does not need that much RAM to run when it never opens files, it only reads from RAW files.
In worst case scenario it might page 500mb during a high resolution RAW (Phase One RAW, not 35mm) file development process.0 -
NaN give this a try. Go into your folder where the exe file is located for Capture One. Right-click on the captureone.exe program and choose 'Properties'. Under compatibility mode, check the box and set compatibility to Windows XP.
If that don't work go back to your installation directory where you downloaded the capture one software and do the samething to your setup.exe file and then reinstall the software.. That should do the trick..

Thanks for the suggestion lance, I tried setting the compatibility property for the exe after installing and it didn't help. I'll try setting it on the installer and I'll reinstall and see what happens.
Ulf, I'm pleased to hear that you're planning compatibility for version 4 and I appreciate that CaptureOne doesn't require vast amounts of memory (a good thing for use on a laptop), but unfortunately some of the other work I do really does require a *lot* of memory and it would be very helpful if I could run CaptureOne on my main workstation which is fast and has a great graphics card and monitor and lots of memory, rather than my laptop which is slow and limits my work efficiency. ☹️

OK. I tried removing and reinstalling C1Pro (taking care to set the compatibility mode at each stage), but still no dice. What happens is that it launches with a warning message saying that at least 128MB memory is needed or performance will be reduced - strange since the machine has 4GB. I can access preferences and things look OK until I open a folder containing raw images; as soon as generation of previews starts it generates an error which is sent off to Microsoft and it closes.
So I installed a copy of WinXP Pro x64 on a different machine, and then into this clean installation I installed Photoshop CS2 and C1Pro 3.7.5, once again taking care to set the compatibility mode before installation and then before launching it the first time. Bingo it runs!
There are a few differences between the machines, mainly that the second machine only has 2GB memory. Now I'll go back to my main workstation and see if I can get it to run there - maybe the problem lies with the amount of memory in the machine.

The mystery contines, in that I have two WinXP X64 PC's both with 4G ram, both with all updates and identical software. Different manufacturers of motherboard though, but both AMD x2 processors.
C1Pro installed and runs fine and fast on one, but crashes immediately on start up on the other (with initially the 128meg ram message and then once it opens a folder with RAW files).
Naturally the PC I'd rather C1Pro ran on is the PC it doesn't, I'll keep fiddling around with compatibility etc and wait for version 4 (running LRoom in the meantime to get my files processed)
