The D800 and the D3s are quite different and use different ICC profiles. Therefore the Kelvin and Tint values are based on different parameters, having a different underlying structure that the values correlate to. There is not a 1:1 relationship between the two.
The D3 and D3s are also different but much closer to one another so a difference is not likely to be noticed.

You're best option is to shoot a Gray Card with each camera individually and use that as a base.

thanks for the fast reply, but shooting a grey card isn't always an option. I understand what you are saying about the camera's, but the when I paste the values, they change in a way that is so dramatic it cannot be intentional, even with different ICC profiles.

    Example

    D3s - Image at 5500 kelvin, temp 0

WB settings cut and pasted to D800 file - pasted settings are 5253 kelvin, temp -5,3

With both images manually set at 5500 and 0 they are close enough to not be a problem, the values substituted for the D800 look horrendous.

I'd just like the values pasted to match the values that are cut and not be changed to something else!

one other point, if I click auto WB for both images, it takes the kelvin and tint values to be near identical.

I understand what you are requesting but as the two, very different files, are based on two, very different, parameters this is not possible.

so literal cut and paste of values doesn't work for different camera models, that is going to slow down my workflow somewhat. Thanks for your help.

It's all relative as the Cut and Paste is copying and pasting the ACTUAL value relative to the files information as appose to the physical number you see on your screen.
