Catalog backups

I have Capture One configured to prompt once a week to backup the catalog to an external USB drive.

Over time, this has created 77 folders which are using a total of 11.5GB of disk space.

Am I correct in thinking that each folder represents an independent backup of the catalog?

Is it therefore safe to manually delete the older backups?
