I've just had a quick play with this in Windows and the answer to your question would seem to be that you are doing nothing wrong unless there is some rather obscure way to enter the Tv value. It seems the value entry box does not like decimals or fractions.

I would suggest you raise a support case in order to get a formal answer to your question just in case we have both missed something.

    HTH.

hey thanks for that. What's the naming convention for shutter speed that you would use?
for a shutter speed of 1/500 of a second, would you do 1/500s?

I think that would be the most commonly understood approach. However the camera manufacturers seem to use a decimal based value in the Exif (not really a surprise) and I guess that would be the value used for the search comparison. The fractional amount (1/500th etc.) is not entirely accurate anyway (not is the decimal version) so some compromise understanding and interpretation may be necessary no matter what format is deployed. There is every possibility of confusion and anomaly in this area.

The Shutter Speed search was broken in both Windows and Mac in earlier versions of CO7, according to what I found and reported.

Now, in CO 7.1.1, I still do not get results I can work with. I will contact Phase One on this.

    Seems to work for me.

    1/500th equals 0.002

Thanks Rick for the hint. Does work here too. Some issues though on Mac.

A value of 0.002 will - after saving - translate into 0,002000000094994903 (mark the decimal symbol).
When I dare to enter 0,002 (comma instead of dot) it will not work.

Probably regional settings play a role here.

    On Win still no go.

Ya that decimal system seems to work fine for me. Is there any way of changing that to fractions? decimals is a real pain in the but?

Anyone has ideas how to create a smart album to select all the files of a specific type (i.e. raw) within a group or project?
    Thank you,

In the Smart Album's search criteria you use Format. To select a specific format, first go to the Metadata tool tab (an 'i' in a circle) and note the value of the Format field in the Basic section. The value can be RAW, MOS, IIQ L and so on.
Back to the search criteria, set the operator (contains, equals and so on) and the value.

In a catalog with Canon CR2 files, Phase One IIQ L and IIQ S files and Leaf MOS files, examples are
    - Format equals RAW (shows all Canon files)
    - Format equals MOS (shows all Leaf files)
    - Format contains IIQ (shows all Phase One files)
    - Format contains IIQ L (shows all Phase One IIQ L files only, not IIQ S)
You can combine search criteria, but you have to set the rues Match to Any (not: All).

Note that when you have .EIP files, the format is referring to the raw file inside the package. EIP is not the format.

Besides this option there is a Global Filter, but as the name says, it works globally, not specific to a Collection or Project (in case of a catalog) or session folders/favorites (in case of a Session).
