Generic Pincushion Distortion
I posted the following in the ..for Windows Forum. However, as the problem might not be OS-specific I believe it makes sense to post here as well:
I'm using a nikon 70-200mm f4 lens a lot in my architectural photography. This lens is not one having a lens profile in CO7, thus, sInce it exhibits pincushion distortion towards the longer focal lengths one has but the Lens/Generic Pincushion Distortion Tool to turn to.
However I find it impossible to adjust with anything even remotely resembling precision. That is, at a 1% setting I´ll still have significant pincushion distortion, then at 2% significant barrel ditto, with no intermediate settings available.
Any similar experiences/workarounds?
Cheers,
Mogens

I found a workaround:
Distortion data for Nikon 70-200mm lenses at photozone.de show the Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 G IF-ED VR (next to newest version) to have distortion characteristics almost identical to the f4 lens.
So to correct for distortion with the f4 lens I'll manually select the profile for the f2.8 lens; bypassing the much-too-coarse correction slider. I find this to work really well.
Mind you, the too-coarse slider may be specific to the C07 Windows version, as I haven't tried the Mac version.
Cheers,
