NEFs have changed to TIFs

    What, exactly imports from where?

    An NEF is a Nikon RAW file. If you are importing from an SD/CF card which you've used in a Nikon camera the image format is designated by the camera and not the import.
    If you've chosen to rename the file tag in the process of importing the files they may simply be renamed as "imagename.tif" as appose to "image name.nef".
    We'd need more details to point you in the right direction.
