No response so I have raised a Support Case and Enhancement Request will follow.

I think that a user should have the option to use Either Catalogs Or Sessions in the Express product and both in the Pro product.
It also makes more sense (to me) that Express carries forward the idea of Sessions as this is what was present in Capture Pro and Express 6.

It's pretty obvious, really. Phase One has made these seemingly arbitrary decisions about Capture One 7 Express (seriously: there's no such thing as "Capture Pro" or "Capture Express") - removing really useful functionality like spot removal; stuffing-up an established and effective workflow; forcing catalogues on us - as "punishment" for having the temerity to push them so hard in the first place to provide a 7 Express.

It's also clear to me that these decisions are explicitly intended to make 7 Express so unattractive to many potential users that they'll bite the bullet and pay for Pro.

it's unique in my experience that a later version of a Raw converter should be quite so much worse as a matter of design and policy decision than its predecessor (even ASP, godawful though it is, isn't actually worse than Bibble 5), yet Phase One have managed just that feat.

😂 Agree with the comments. Seems absurd but hey, we only buy the stuff.

Since I will only be running it on a laptop that is for out of studio use I guess I wont have all my images so building a catalog will be OK as it will be more like a Session anyway. Just a complete PITA to have to kludge something.

Bibble5 and ASP work well for me and when/if they ever release a camera RAW update then it may be useful again.
However the Speed of Bibble5 /ASP was very welcome as it meant it could be run on any machine. This is not true with Capture One Pro 7 as it needs a fairly well specified machine to run at a reasonable speed.
