Image appears blocked up in shadows on screen (but isn't)

I am having a problem whereby in capture one 5.01 the image looks very blocked up in the shadows but otherwise looks pleasing in the other tones. The histogram looks well distributed and shadow clipping doesn't appear when I preview it. Also, when I process out to photoshop, it looks fine. I am a sophisticated user of capture one.

  Does the blocking disappear when viewing the preview at 100%?

  Are you using 2 screens? I have this problem with my second screen, it's because the computer is applying the color profile from the main screen to the secondary screen. C1, Photoshop, Aperture, all do it. The only thing that doesn't for me is the finder and preview.
