How to use C8 catalog on multiple drives?
Hi,
I have to import(leave files in their folders), and edit photos on site using my Macbook pro SSD.
When I get back home I backup my referenced images in the photo folders to a RAID drive and two sets of external drives using Chronosync.
The catalog on my laptop is also backed up to external drive.
Is there an easy way to point multiple subfolders in my PHOTOS folder to the new locations on my RAID drive? I now have to manually "LOCATE" each folder.
I shoot about 150-200 assignments a year and looking for a workflow that will allow me to edit offloaded images easily.
Thanks.

Hi
When you say you "backup my referenced images in the photo folders to a RAID drive", do you actually mean you *move* the files from your SSD to the external drives? That wouldn't be quite the same thing, as yes you would then need to tell CO8 where you've moved them to.
Within the Library pane you can see the Folders where all your image files reside. You can move images by dragging them from the image Browser view and dropping them to a destination folder in the Folders list. That way, CO8 moves the file for you and knows where they've gone to. The disks/images can now go offline and be fine.
HOWEVER. This sounds great until you realise the workflow limitations.
First, you can't drag a folder of images in the Folders list from one location to another. That's a major inconvenience to the way CO8 works given this is the way they want you to move image files around.
Second, given you can't move the folder of images, you have to have created the destination folder and added it to the Folders view before you can move any images into it. You can combine the create/add by right/control-clicking the parent folder in the Folders list, select "Add folder..." and in the pop-up box click on New Folder, name it, then the Add button.
I'd love to know if I'm missing an easier way to move folders of image files around!

Thanks, Nick.
I am moving the files from SSD to external using Chronosync. It's a very easy process and not as cumbersome as moving files via Capture One folder system.0
