Assuming that you're on the latest version of Capture One (version 6.4.1/6.4.2 for Mac), that might be your problem, I reckon - I seem to recall that earlier versions of View NX2 do something to the files that make them unreadable for Capture One and Lightroom, to name two.

Can you try again with the latest View NX2, please?

    Hi,
I have the latest version of CO 6.4.1 for windows and I updated View NX2 but it made no difference. I erased all the D800 files from the hard drive and then downloaded them from the camera with Capture NX2 and it worked, I can see and edit them. I have only done it this way as my card reader is playing up and the camera is USB 3 which CO 6 does not support yet.

    Thanks for the advice.
    Regards
    Ian

    OK,

just for completeness, could you try and get some D800 images from the card to computer some other way - maybe using Windows Explorer drag 'n' drop or cut 'n' paste (assuming the card reader lets you) - and see if Cap One can see them then?

For a test: import or copy image files from your D800 memory card, without using View NX or Capture NX2.

If your card reader won't work nice, connect the camera over USB. Note that USB 3 support is not something that needs to be implemented in CO6. Applications don't care whether it is USB 2 or 3 as long as your hardware and operating system support the interface.

    That's what I'm suggesting, Paul.

I've got the same problem with RAW files from a D7000 (on a Mac) and it hasn't been rectified in over a year. If you copy the files into the appropriate folder directly from your SD card using operating system, you will then see them in the folder along with preview files once you reopen Capture One.

It's a pain, but not the end of the world. Lightroon has always seen the D7000 files no problem.

I noticed that too. We posted simultaneously and apparently with the same idea in mind.

Heh! Oh yeah, Paul - didn't see the time similarity!

    😉

Anyway - Ian, just for completness, this is what I was talking about earlier: https://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/app ... a_id/53027

This definitely causes issues for Lightroom and for AfterShot Pro, so I wouldn't be surprised if Cap One would similarly be affected.

I'm puzzled by why the Nikon "fix" hasn't helped you, though.

    Hi,
I have no idea why it hasn't worked however Capture NX2 has worked for now and I can see all my images in CO Pro 6 and edit them. I will order a new card reader but until they upgrade to USB 3 I guess it's slow read times for us.

Thanks for the url, I have checked it out and and I have the latest version and it causes problems so I will stick with solution I have for now and thanks for your suggestion, it's good to know people are out there willing to help a newby.

    Regards
    Ian
