    Hi Mick,

I am assuming you are using referenced catalogue system. If it is the case, in CO11, you can move the files from internal HDD to external SSD easily. On the Library tab, by folders section hit the "+", add the external SSD and then drag and drop the files structure into the SSD. If you do this on CO11, then the system will move the references and you should be able to use the new location.

    Hope it helps,

And if you do this move outside of Capture One, you can manually update the file paths via the Locate function, as outlined in this Knowledge Base article:

My first try seems to be ok. But now the situation is like this:
Library tab, + adding external SSD
drag and drop 14000 files from internal HDD to external SSD
-> all works on the original MacBook with the original catalog

    BUT
if I connect the external SSD to my other MacBook with installed CaptureOne, it doesn't work.
I have on the 2. Macbook a catalog, but of course another catalog, not the one from Macbook1. And on the external SSD are only the files, but not the related catalog.
So, I need the catalog from the 1. Macbook on the external SSD too? Isn't it?
    How can I manage this?

Sorry for being such helpless! 😉

    NEW, I tested:
-After adding the new folder on the external SSD, I moved the pics from the MacBook HDD to the external SSD
-Then I copied the catalog from the MacBook HDD to the external SSD
-Then I startet with double click on this copied catalog on the External SSD
Result: It seems to be ok!

    Is this the right way?

I think all what you have done is correct.

However, I not that you say "copied the catalog", not "moved the catalog"

Therefore, do be careful that on Mac#1, that you delete or hide the catalog on the internal drive that you have copied to the SSD.

If you do not, then CaptureOne on Mac #1 may choose to use either the catalog on the SSD or the catalog on the internal drive. Initially they will be the same, but they are not the same instance, and after you have done any editing or metadata changes, they will not be the same; you will have no simple way of synchronizing the two catalogs after you make changes.

Personally I would convert the catalog on the internal drive to a zip file, and keep it for a few weeks or a month until you are sure that the new arrangement is completely working, and then delete it.
