Strange (or not) C1 Behaviour in Vista
I have been using C1LE on Vista for a number of months now without any problems. Usually, I have the develop folder set relative to the image, but yesterday, I reset the default develop folder to C:\\Program Files\\Phase One\\Capture One LE\\Images. I then sent several images to that folder, and later tried to edit them in PS. Amazingly, PS said there was nothing in this folder! Where had they gone?
Some further investigation showed that Vista will not allow programs to write 'user data' to the 'Program Files' folder for security reasons. As a result, all the images are put into a 'Virtual Store' called 'C:\\Users\\Username\\AppData\\Local\\VirtualStore\\Program Files\\Phase One\\Capture One LE\\Images'. Looking there, I found my images. Similarly, the C1 preferences file is held in 'C:\\Users\\Username\\AppData\\Local\\VirtualStore\\Program Files\\Phase One\\Capture One LE\\Preferences'.
These folders can be accessed by clicking on a tab in Explorer (Vista) called 'Compatibility Files' under the original folder name!
I presume that C1 will write these files to the 'User' area when it becomes more Vista-compatible.
Another thing that is annoying me, is that C1 doesn't remember the last folder viewed any more. No matter what I do, it always starts in the same place. I've tried deleting the preferences file (from the 'Virtual Store'!) but that didn't work.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Iain
