Capture One basic question
excuse my noobism... i just tried out v12 and i am new to C1.
so far it is not difficult to work with.... but i have one issue.
i use a few different cameras.
how can i see what camera i shoot with in the viewer?
i can´t for the hell of it figure that out.....
i would like to see the camera model and lens info here:

is that possible?
or do i always have to go into the metadata tab to have this info available?

The Base Characteristics tool also gives you a clue of your camera make and model. If this is very important to you, you could consider to include a renaming scheme in your workflow where the camera brand or model is included in the name. Capture One can do that for you with tokens.
I must say that working with tokens is not what I normally advice to a new user, so I apologise for that. 😊0 -

yeah.... no.
a raw editing tool with dam features should have a way to display such infos as overlay.Base Characteristics tool
will figure out what that is. 😊
ah i see... ok... then i need to have a floating window open.
and it only works for the camera brand but not lens.
but there is no way to display such data directly under the image where the other infos are?
or cycle through such infos (as in other raw editors like LR etc.)?0 -
You could make a smart albums that filters on camera make/model or use the Filters tool. That is not the same as displaying, but could help perhaps in what you want to achieve. 0 -
yeah i could think of a dozend ways to work around this.... all are more or less a hassel.
but i am evaluating C1 right now and i find it surprising that such important infos (more important for editing than the mm i shoot at) for editing are not displayed.
i normaly do presets depending on the camera model, not the mm i shoot at.
i can´t remember a tool that does not show me these infos.
if not directly on or under the photo, then they at least have a metadata window that is always open and shows exif data for the selected image.
i actually did that, using the floating metadata window in C1.
but it is not a great solution.
phase one should consider implementing such option in future versions.0 -
The file info at the bottom of the image seems to be automatically generated and changes based on screen size, image orientation, & how many images are selected at any given time. I've never seen any way to control what info is seen there. 0 -

generate a "flying window" with metadata in the menu "Window" -> "Create Floating Tool" -> "Metadata"0 -
All my image files are automatically renamed when ingesting then onto my PC - they all contain the camera model, date and finally the original file number:
D800_20181130_11567.nef
D810_20181130_01234.nef
X-T2_20181130_00234.raf
etc.
(I now add an extra zero to the beginning of all my file numbers, so running past 9999 is not a problem.)
I can tell at a glance in Windows explorer or any program what camera was used.0
