How to effectively tag at import time
I am completing the switch from LR4 and while I find myself more and more at home with C1pro as a raw developer (which means that I spend less time editing and more time shooting, which I greatly prefer, since the starting point which C1 gives me is usually so close to what I am after, while with LR4 I need more time to achieve the results).
What I am still missing is a workflow which fully satisfies me for importing and tagging images. I am used to LR and that is possibly biasing me... My typical case is the following:
1) on a single sd / cf card I have images from different days and different situations, people. I am not a pro and, being constrained by family and work, I don't always have time to import the images the same day that I shoot them. So I could have a birthday, a tour around my town, some random pic of my wife and the kids, all in the same card.
2) I need to import them from the card to a folder like X:\Pictures\YYYY\MM-DD, different for each picture, possibly without need for my intervention (and without duplicating what is already there)
3) I need to be able to easily add keyword at import time for each different set (think something like "grandma birthday", "Rome, sunset", "wife and children")
I prefer to handle backup by myself (using an external hd and robocopy).
Even after reading blogs and watching tutorials I am still unsure of the best way to proceed: could you please explain me, or point to relevant discussions in these forum boards?
