New Capture One user No Sessions Folders
Greetings all,
I installed Capture One v12 Fuji Express version when it was announced and chose Catalog as the fundamental operating mode the first time it fired up. I've not had the opportunity to spelunk around until today when I realized I made a mistake selecting Catalog mode.
In retrospect, I would prefer that Sessions mode be the fundamental mode. In this particular configuration I have no ability to create Sessions Folders, or even a Sessions Folders selection in the Library.
How do I switch to Session mode?
Thanks,
Chris

For what I knew (and what I see deactivating my full license) the Express Fujifilm version is limited to one catalog. You can't create other catalogs and most importantly you can't create sessions. You can import a session into your catalog but you can't work on them.
I hope, for you, to be proved wrong.0 -
This may help for understanding the differences between Express and Pro versions.

You need a Pro version to have a choice between sessions and catalogs.

Ah, so no Sessions.
So is there a way to completely disable Catalogs?
I would like to be able to use this product in conjunction with LR as a developer only.
Not interested in dealing with another application wanting to Catalog my files, or the drive space that the process will consume.0 -

So, is there no way to go back to a Session based modality? If I have to have one or the other I prefer Sessions.
The Pro versions allow you to use both sessions and catalogues. And do a lot of other things that are not supported in the Express version - as was always the case.
If you wish you can set preferences to allow you to have multiple sessions and catalogues open at the same time using the Pro version. This may sometimes be useful.0 -
Alright, thanks.
Unfortunately this makes C1 a non-starter for me.

Yes it sounds like you should stay with LightRoom.
What led you towards Capture One in the first place?0 -

I would have thought "value" LR is quite expensive compared with free 😊

That would be true but the OP makes a point that they wish to use C1 in conjunction with LR suggesting that being free was not a primary consideration.0
