Canon 7d and V4

I have just bought a Canon 7d but it is not supported in V4. When I open C1 it tells me there is an update to V5 (which I understand I have to pay for) but no mention of updates for V4.
Does this mean unless I pay for V5 there will be no improvements to V4 anymore?
