Processing Old P45 files only show as TIFF?

Recently had to re-process some old P45 images from 2006, but in C1 8.0 they are showing as TIFF's in the thumbnails, despite being RAW files, and do not go to 100% view, and... will not process. Can anyone shed light on what is up, and how to process these to 16bit Tiff's?

  The TIF file extension can be used by Phase One raw files as well as the IIQ extension.
  
  Look in the Metadata tool, Format option. It should state RAW. And when you open such RAW TIF file in CO8, the program will automatically assign a P45 ICC profile to it in Base Characteristics tool.
  
  When it is a processed Tiff, it would assign the Tiff File Neutral ICC profile and the Format in Metadata reads TIFF.
  
  Once you figured out what the real file format is, we can look why it is not processing.
