Output Sharpening for Printing

In the print module under the Printer drop down there is a slider called sharpening which can be set between 0 and a 100. I assume that this is to set the amount of output sharpening necessary for printing. However I can find no documentation on this anywhere. Are there any suggested settings for different printer/ink/paper combinations. The default setting of 25 seems ok with gloss paper in my HP B9180 but what is a good setting for matte art paper for instance? Can anyone advise please or do I have to waste lots of expensive ink and paper finding the optimum setting?

Another sharpening question: Under Output/Process Recipe/Adjustments there is a single tick box "disable Sharpening" (selected by default 🤓 ), I presume this cancels the pre-sharpening set in details/sharpening - is this correct?

In general I believe that advice on sharpening is hard to give because it is dependent on so many factors, including personal taste. If you would like to investigate the setting, I suggest you choose values 0 - 25 - 50 - 100. Maybe you can use half a sheet for each setting, total costs 2 sheets.

Your own answer to the second question is correct. The Disable Sharpening tick box allows you to keep the sharpening settings in the Sharpening tool, while switching is off for processing with a particular process recipe.
