Changing location Capture One Library
Hello,
I recently acquired a new Pc, and after making some further partitions on a large harddisk, I now want to change the location of the Capture One library, but cannot seem to do so. After manually moving the Capture One library to the new location, upon starting the program, it now notifies me that it cannot launch without a library, and gives the choice to either locate a library, which is done by selecting the .col file in the library that I moved to the desired loacation, or let it create a new library, which, when selected, it will make in a folder in the old location, naming it "new folder". Selecting the .col file works for the session, but it doesn't stick: each time I start Capture One, it ask again.
Is there any way to permanently move the Capture One library to the new location?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

No, currently not, but why would you? The Capture One Library folder contains the default 'session folders'. However, you can assign any folder for your images and for your output files and trashed files. If you have the Pro/DB version, you can make session anywhere, creating a new set of session folders for that session.0 -
Ok Paul, Thanks for the reply.
Starting out with a new Pc with todays large harddrives, I guess you just want to be able to move everything around to where you want it, and since several posts after the latest release have been referring to deleting certain capture one files as a means to "reset" capture one, I thought there might be a similar solution to this very minor issue.
By the way: the output of the software with my Olympus E3 with ED14-35 f2 lens has been extremely good, but the overly sharp previews make it very hard to judge the needed amount of sharpening. Does anyone else struggle with this?

I just got Capture one Pro and have the same issue. Every time I go into a dir that has my Canon 1D Mark II raw files, it creates a folder called "CaptureOne". I would love to set the program like i used to be able to in the v3.7 series to another location on another drive.
I keep my photos organized and having the cache files all over the place takes up room on my photo drive and makes things more cluttered. I think it would simply be best to have all my cache files in one location so I can easily nuke it within windows instead of having to rely on C1 to do it for me.
As of yet I have not found a way to do it, am I missing something?0 -
I complained already long time about it and stopped to use C1 4 completely because of that. I was waiting for Pro if they solve it but they did not.
Now I switched to DxO.
Will see again on V>=4.60 -
I have also complained about the lack of customization for the C1 cache location. I would have upgraded my C1 3.1 LE to C1 4 PRO (note that, I would have PAID extra for the PRO version) if it would have offered a central cache location as an option, but so far no luck. We live in hope ... 0
