Capture One feature request.
Attn: Phase One
For the past few days I have tried unsucessfully to create a support case in order to request features. All I get is an error message and I don't want to spend any more time at it so please forward this request to the proper channel.
Image Tagging.
Capture One needs more than one way to tag images. One situation would be when more than one person is reviewing and selecting images so each person could have a separate tag.
Another situation is when you need to categorize images. On a recent job I had to rename files in order to categorize them which would not be necessary if I could assign them a colour code.
IPTC editor.
As it stands, when you try to apply IPTC information to a batch of images any unchecked setting results in erasing existing data. Instead it should leave existing data intact. The way it works now, you cannot batch apply a group of keywords, or copyright data to captioned images without either wiping out the caption info or changing it.
...unless I'm missing something.
Thanks for your attention,

highlight the thumbnail and just use the number pad. im wrong about the 10, but up to 9 is fine.0 -
That's what I thought... 0 -
It is nice to have the numbers option but still everything is in one tag. I would rather have two or three separate tags or an option to colour code.

Hey,
I agree, I would also like to see a feature that allows you to view only tagged images instead of seeing tagged images viewed in the same window as all untagged images. I would prefer to see tagged images in a separate window minus the untagged images. Option should read as follow: "Show Tagged Images Only". I would love to see this feature included in a new update.

Full Screen Shooting tethered with nothing but the picture on Screen.
That would be Awesome.. And might knock down the Aperture people..:+}

RE: Feature request from the forum: I am forwarding it along per your request. ( I am not sure why it was not working that day) along with the forum link;
As you forum colleagues suggested the tag numbering system would help you with multiple decision makers
and I am sure there is always room for improvement.
thanks for your suggestions.
Please try and use the support logging system for your feature requests in the future.

To my knowledge there are 3 colour tags in the software, green red and orange. They are the plus, minus and star keys on the far right of your mac keyboard 0 -
you can shoot whith nothing else than the picture on screen, just get rid of menu, menu bar, thumbnail window. 0 -
You can not only tag with the number 1-9 keys, but the underscore/hypen key to the right of the zero key puts a check mark next to the thumb and the zero key removes the tags all together. Hope that helps some people out. @.
...is there a way to tag the images without the keys? Just curious if you could do so with a pull down menu or something.0 -
Thanks for the tips on the addtional tagging options. I wasn't aware of them...expecially the colour choices.
Still there is no dual tagging option, where I can have two types of tags active at the same time in order to "categorize" and "rate" my images. It would be especially nice if this feature were added to Capture One and have compatiblity with iView's tags.

I hear comments quite a bit with photographers I work with that seem to want as many different tagging options as possible. An example would be one checkmark, two checkmarks, etc. Is there any keyboard shortcuts to tag the thumbs with the green or yellow checkmark? Thanks.

I would prefer Phase One to take a longer view on this subject. Cataloging and Archiving images is becoming an important issue for me and many other photographers. I find it unfortunate that Phase One has a marketing partnership with iView Media Pro but that its own RAW files are not compatable with the iView software.
It would be ideal to have Phase RAW files and the embedded IPTC data fully compatible with Bridge and iView. Imagine if you could use iView to manage keywords, editing, and tagging images to be processed. Then you could use iView and those star ratings and color coding could show up on your RAW files in C1 Pro.
I would highly recommend Peter Kroghs "DAM book" for other photographers here and for the decision makers at Phase One. Making Phase One RAW files more Archival and Portable would be to the great advantage of Phase One customers over the long term. I really fear the state of my Phase RAW files in 30 years. Currently they cannot be cataloged, keyworded, or rated by any third party application. I am also tied to Phase's proprietary LCC correction for my architectural photography.
I think that when C1 pro V4 comes out I will be utilizing the feature to export my RAW files as DNG so that I can take full advantage of cataloging software to organize my photos.
I hope that Phase One will implement support for those DNG files that will enable me to process those DNGs through C1 pro to create RGB output. This would give great functionality to my RAW DNGs and enable me to get rid of the proprietary, non-arhcival, and non-portable Phase One RAW files.0
