If you hold down "Alt" while starting CO, you will see a list of recent documents. From this dialog you can also create a new session, that will open instead of the last used session.

Thanks 😊 I know about the alt thing - maybe I missed something but i'm sure CO used to open to that by default for me. Must have had a setting selected somewhere.

With that said - there are still no recent docs to be seen. Does this dialogue box point to a certain folder maybe?

    thanks again.

The Recent box will always appear when you close all sessions/catalogs before you close CO8; many people do that without being aware because they are used to close a program by clicking on the red dot (top left) of the window; however, this closes the window, not the program.

Recent docs appear when you have used them and closed them from CO8. They also show at the top of the Library tool's drop-down list.

Ah thanks. Makes sense and works quite nicely now I understand it.

I still don't have any projects/sessions/documents/files/catalogs displaying in the recents window though. I've been in and out of a lot of my archive ☹️

That is strange. Could be (just a guess) that there is a permissions or other issue that the recent list is not written to your preference file. Hard to diagnose through forum posts. Perhaps file a support case?

You could run Disk Utility for repair permissions anyway.
