moving originals between projects in a catalog
This should be a simple move and I am sure it had been discussed endlessly before - still I cannot find the answer in the forums . Perhaps I am using the wrong search words.
How do I move an Image(for good) from one project to another within the same catalog ?

Drag & drop. Fairly simple. 0 -
That is how it was done in that very intuitive yet abandoned other thing called Aperture .
How do you specifically drag and drop ? Are you in the Library Tab ? I have not been able to successfully achieve a move.
To my understanding of the work flow in a C1 catalog, you create a project and simultaneously an album within that project that "contains" the images. One cannot import images directly to a project - You import them into the album (that resides in the project). So now ( from the Library tab of my catalog) if I drag images from one project to another- I actually drag them into the "image album" of the newly chosen project. Therefore the original or variant did not MOVE. It merely created a copy in the new project's album. As proof,If one goes ahead and deletes the images from the first project, they all vanish from both projects.
There must be a way to do this, it is quite basic. Since C1 does certain things differently , taking what I can describe as an unintuitive route to the same end, I even think I might have known how to move the images around once - but my memory fails me. The lack of a detailed coherent user manual also hinders one's efforts to really learn the program.

You don't have to create a project to create an album.
I think you should watch David Grover's webinar about "Organising your catalog" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c942DU4pKBI0 -
I revisited the webinar you recommended and even though David not discuss the specific issue I was asking about, it was actually nice to refresh my grasp of C1.
Final Note :Since my catalog is referenced and not managed, and the user collection has projects and albums, the answer to my original question was sort of obvious , if not to me.
Like you said - drag and drop - In this case from the donor project to the Image Album of the recipient Project. Then go back to the donor Project's image album and remove (not delete) the moved images out from there.
I hope this reply reads like English and not Chinese. Thanks for the support.0 -
As a fellow refugee from Aperture I understand your problem.
If you do the moving in the Folders section rather than the User Collections section then you will see the referenced file structure exactly as it is on your hard drive.
Now if you locate the an image and drag it to a new folder then it will move, as required from one folder to another.0 -

Sorry but that's too stupid. It reads indeed Chinese but that's how it is implemented. If the image quality of CO9 wasn't that good in some cases I would have thrown it already out of the window. But anyhow I still hope for better workflow if that will be possible at all...0
