Thumbnail scaling slider vanishing

Why does my slider to adjust thumbnail size keep disappearing? Highly annoying. And.......my clients still like to see images smaller than screen size often but the slider won't let you go smaller on the main image. Used to be able to go smaller in V3

  Browser below or at the right? For the latter option, there should be a 'head/shoulder' symbol at the entire right to click on.

  Enable proof margin in the viewer (upper left corner, double rectangle symbol) and adjust the margin size from the preferences, appearance tab.

  The head and shoulder icon disappears altogether, I'm familiar with it. I have my browser on the left. Does the same thing when it's below too.

  Try a workspace refresh by selecting the workspace you work in again from the Window menu (or switch with another workspace back and forth).
