Capture One 12 doesn't capture
I have had capture problems with my IQ250 and IQ3-100 backs. I thought it might be the cable, so I bought another one. In total, I had three cables: the two that came with the backs, and the new one. None solved the problem.
It isn't that tethered shooting never works, but out of the years I've been trying to do it since buying into the Phase One system, less than half the time it works. Tonight, I'm getting ready for a shoot tomorrow and haven't managed to capture one image to my laptop out of hundreds of tries. And yet last Thursday, it worked perfectly on a different MacBookPro that belonged to a client. That said, there have been times when it works perfectly on my laptop also. Wondering why it fails now. Also, it isn't that it doesn't connect. I can see the camera info on the laptop and control the camera from there. The problem is saving images. When it tries to do that, I get the message "camera error" and then C1 hangs.
All of my software and firmware is up to date as of today btw.
Anyway, I'll probably use my iPad Pro tomorrow to preview shots but I'd much rather shoot tethered. I had pretty much given up on tethered shooting ten months ago, but after it worked on Thursday, decided to give it another try.

Update: this is a more detailed error message I just got:
Mac OS kernel error: (iokit/usb) pipe has stalled, error needs to be cleared [# 0xe000404f] - USB error0 -
Thanks to that error message, I had the idea of switching USB ports. That did the trick. If I recall correctly, the port I am now using for capture, the left side port on MacBookPro, is the same one used on the Thursday shoot. The odd thing is that the other port on the right has my external HD connected to it and it works. Cabled the opposite way, nothing works, but now the capture gets to C1 and is saved on the external HD.
