Have you tried 5? You know you have 30 days for free.

It's really weird that you see all those issues considering, as you saw yourself, it should run just smoothly on your setup. Have been in contact with support? The crash reports are NOT a support channel, but a way to help the developers improve the program with crash information. You should not expect an answer when sending a crash report.

No I have not tried 5 yet. But it seems that alto of people are not having good luck with it either. So I dont know, I may try the 30 day trial and keep my fingers crossed. I have had similar issues that went all the way through the version 4 upgrades.

I had some issues with Version 5 trial shortly after I installed it but trashing the preferences solved the problem. That is something I have had to do with a lot of applications from time to time, including Photoshop.

Why not try it, you can always go back to 4 if you want.

Why stop there? Version 3 is still the most stable, has the best user interface, best network performance and respects all embedded metadata. The only things of any use you gain with 4&5 as best I can make out are the clarity slider, highlight and shadow "recovery", better integration of the color editor, some processing speed and compatibility with Mac 10.6 Snow Leopard (5 only AFAIK). The bells and whistles like dust removal are superfluous when so many fundamentals have been overlooked. Sadly pretty much everything else has slid backwards.

Version 3.7.9 is still available though not supported. The lack of support isn't an issue (it doesn't collapse the way 4 does) unless you have a newer camera that isn't supported. P1 have stopped updating the RAW formats they support for v3.

I'm not sure how you'd go license-wise as a new user but I recommend taking it for a spin.

My experience running various versions of Capture One on Macs couldn't be more at odds with yours. From your description of your troubles and the fact that you are using a Mac, I'd say that you probably need to repair disk permissions and run the periodic maintenance tasks on your Mac. Also, your Capture One application might be corrupted and you might need to reinstall.

If you decide to reinstall, perform the routine maintenance and disk repair prior to installation, then repair disk permissions again after installation. Also, zap the pram and force a safe boot to reset system parameters. There is additional information about these procedures on Apple's support site.

If you have a disk utility like SpeedTools check for fragmentation. The Mac is relatively trouble-free but does benefit from regular maintenance to attain peak performance.

Think of it like tuning up a Ferrari only a lot less expensive.
