Yes, it can also use the cores on the GPU.

Most operations (like processing to file) uses all available cores on the CPU, and, if the machine has a powerful enough graphics card, CO can also use the OpenCL capabilities to greatly speed-up both parameter adjustment and processing.

Hi, I'm building a low budget PC for image processing (18mpix CR2 files) and I want to use Capture One 7 Express also. What do you think which configuration would preform better: an intel i5 (i5 4460, 4570) without external vga card or an AMD FX-6350 with external card (AMD R7 240, 250).
    Other components: 8GB DDR3, 256 GB SSD, Windows 8.1 64bit. Thanks, Norbert

The gfx card will give you a lot more performance, so I would tkae the option with the external seperate card.
However, if possible, buy an Intel processor as well, as CO can use more of the chip-instruction-sets on an Intel-CPU.

Try to buy your RAM in a way that will allow upgrade...

There may still be kits of 2GBx4 sticks = 8 GB
They may cost a little less..?
However, I would recommend 4GBx2 sticks

Then, if you like to add more RAM, you can build from what you got rather than looking at a bunch of 2GB stick and shaking your head :^) Been there. Can mail you the t-shirt.
