. renaming Issue - missing images - BEWARE!!!!!!!
Has anyone had this problem? I renamed 2 images with a . (DOT) in front of the name in the thumbnail window to take them, or so I thought to the top of the thumbnail window. Having gone out of the window then back again the images are no longer there.
I work on a Mac 10.4.10 with latest Capture One Pro - Capture let me re-name without any warning!!! but if you go to a normal mac folder and try to re-name an image with a.(Dot) the system prohibits this action.
Does anyone out there know how to find the images and recover them - Please programmers flag this up it causes enough stress to kill us when on a deadline.

Eddie,
The best recommended from other customers with missing images is Cocktail
http://www.maintain.se/cocktail/index.php

Many have had success with this program.
Mac OS typically hangs-onto the files but 'hides' them, and Cocktail can flush-them-out.
Best of luck ~ KC0 -
Hi There,
Don't worry! Your images are still there. In Mac OS X filenames that start with a period are invisible. There is a way to show/hide invisible files using Applescript.
Download this script
http://www.bwstudios.biz/downloads/ShowHiddenFiles.zip
Run the script, it will ask if you want to show or hide the invisible files. Choose to show them and then go find and rename the "missing" files.
Run it again to change it back.

You might try tagging the files and then sort by tagged state. Simply pressing a number will tag an image with that number and move it to the top of the list. If you must rename files then I would use an underscore or a number.0 -
Note to PhaseOne
The CaptureOne rename function should not allow filenames to begin with a period, just like the Finder doesn't. Hopefully this will be addressed in the final 3.x release. 😄

You can also use the search function right in OS X. Just press command+F when in finder, select "other" from the drop down menu called "Last opened" and find "visibility". Choose "Visible or Invisible" and write part of the filename in the search panel... the should appear in the white area...
