Capture One LE vs 4
Sometimes change IS good, but I'm not convinced in this case.
I know new software takes time getting accustomed to, but my first impressions of v4 are not all that favourable.
Does anyone else experience the software occasionally 'hanging'?
I for one will be reverting to 3.7..not sure all the 'kinks' have been ironed out of v4 yet...

I think CO4 will evolve feature-wise and probably gain stability. My own experience however is very much on the positive side (after a modest learning curve of getting used to). On Mac I had no (not that I can remember) 'hanging' and I use several Macs, both Intel- and PPC-based.0 -
I have not experienced any hanging or system problems with 4.0 on my Intel Macs, but after a experiencing a rather long learning curve I still am hoping that PO makes some serious alterations in the general interface of 4.0.
To me the bottom line is 1) speed of workflow, and 2) image quality. For me, image quality has never been the problem with 4.0; speed of workflow on the other hand has taken a significant hit. If 4.0 provided a 50% faster workflow than 3.7 it would be amazing. If it were on par with 3.7 I would be mostly satisfied. But my experience so far is that it takes me up to 50% longer to get through a large group of images. That is my own personal real world experience. There is something wrong here. If it's me, I'm open to ideas; but I've spent the time learning what is new in 4.0 and for some reason it is just taking me longer to get through images. If I could point to something that has been added that makes it worth an extra 10% of workflow time, I could probably be okay with that. But as is I am spending too much extra time with very little gained over 3.7.
I know some people are saying they like the new system and find it faster. At this point in time that has been far from my own experience.0 -
The problem is that LE is not a professional program, so it should not be used a such.
For me it is impossible because I shoot tethered to my portable computer.
The other major problem is that the files of pre-C14 are not being recognized by C1 4.
This is as if your 16year old son one day comes to you and said: "Nice to meet you, my name is Zee-one-four, what is your name?"
Is as if all the work you ever did with Phase One software has Alzheimer's disease.
What are we supposed to do? ... no word from Phase One about it -- that I know about --.
In other words, LE is an immature software sent in to battle to fight defending Phase One in the very moment when photographers are desperate because of the road block produced by H3 wanting them to decide if they are with them or against them...
I don't know what Phase is going to do since I'm just a photographer, but this is like a pit stop, every software maker has to upgrade at one time, but here the problem is that they left the track and who knows when they will get back in.
I even think that releasing the LE was a mistake. We got a small sup and the main dish is no where to be seen ... what kind of restaurant is this??
For the time being I love Phase One and will be hard to kill Phaseaholic so I -- like many more -- I'm waiting for some explanations about all this...0 -
I posted this elsewhere but in case you didn't see it....
I can't speak for Canon users, but if you want to shoot your Phase back tethered and use C1 4 to process the images, open Capture One Pro or DB, create a session, and capture in the normal way (on camera or remote release is best rather than keyboard then you never have to go into the Capture One Pro/DB window, however you can fire it in DB/Pro if you wish)
Run C1 4 as your main window at the same time and point it at the capture folder from your new session and your images should appear in real time in C1 4 and you can preview, adjust and process in C1 4. Obviously you won't have Live View.
It works for me on a Mac with a P25+. As the old LE never processed P- and H- back images, surely this is a good thing?
